II - Standard Rules for Warhammer 40k Tournaments

  1. You must use the same army list for each game.

  2. All models must be painted and based, meaning that all models are required to have at least three colors on them. At the bare minimum, bases must be painted if they are not flocked. If your models are not painted, they may not be used in this tournament.

  3. All models must be Citadel, Marauder, Fanatic, or Forge World models. Forge World models may only be used to represent entries from Valid Codexes. Vehicles from the Imperial Armour books (Including Imperial Armour II: Apocolypse) are not permitted. If there is any doubt, please ask a judge prior to the first round of play, or via email prior to the event.

  4. This tournament is intended for fun, and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. You must conduct yourself in a manner that will not bring the hobby into disrepute. Conduct yourself as you would have your opponents conduct themselves.

  5. What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). If you wish to use an item, it must be represented on the figure. Army list choices whose models aren't available must be converted. Remember, if you are in doubt about a conversion you have done, you probably shouldn't use it! We don't want you showing up with something you can't use!

  6. You must bring all materials needed to play including dice, measuring devices, templates, models, and any rules that you will be using. Also bring 3 copies of your list (1 to turn into the GM, 1 for your opponent, and 1 for your personal reference).

  7. New Codexes or Army books - When a new Codex or Army book is published, you must use it if it comes out 1 month or more prior to this Tournament. If the book comes out less than 1 month before the event, you can use either the new book or the existing book.

III - Warhammer 40,000 Rules

  1. Create an army of no more than 1,850 points with one Standard Force Organization chart.

  2. Specific zone fighting rules will not be in effect - including Jungle fighting and City fighting.

V - Rulings

All Games Workshop FAQs will be enforced. For simplicity sake, this event will utilize the INAT FAQ for rulings and questions not covered by GW. Any questions may be brought up to a Judge PRIOR to the beginning of the first round or via Email to the event GM (Listed above)..

VI - Scoring

Scoring will be handled in three areas, Generalship (Battle Points), Hobbyist (Appearance Points), and Sportsmanship. The overall winner will be determined based on a combination of Battle and Appearance points. A Best Sportsman prize will be awarded, but has no bearing on the Overall Tournament Champion. (Please note that Improper or Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated and may be grounds for disqualification from the tournament and removal from the premises at the GM's, Judges, or Convention Staff's discretion.)

Battle Points will be awarded each round. The scoring will be dictated by the mission outcome, including W/L/D and battle points. Battle Points account for 75% of the final score.

Appearance will be judged by staff throughout the day using the below standards. Player's Choice bonuses will also be applied. Appearance will be worth 25% of the final score.

++ APPEARANCE ++

Judges will evaluate and score each army based on the following checklist:

Initial Overall Impression (Circle the one that applies)

There is at least one model in the army unfinished. If something is unfinished favor this one.

The army is fully painted, but only to the most basic of tournament requirements. There is still the possibility of impressive basing or conversion work.

10

Army is fully painted and there has obviously been effort put into detailing the army beyond the minimum tournament standard. Give benefit toward this choice unless unfinished models

20

Display Base (Circle the one that applies)

No display base, Rubber Maid lid, etc.

Basic, just one flock.

1

Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, framed edge.

2

Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, terrain elements, shading and highlighting of elements.

4

Intricate diorama that just ‘wows’ the judge.

5

Model Basing (Circle the one that applies)

Bare plastic bases.

Basic one flock, no paint.

1

Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, no painting.

2

Multiple flock or painted with highlights one flock; with clean painted edges.

5

Conversions (Circle the one that applies)

No conversions.

Minimal: The army has some elementary conversions (head/weapon swaps, arm rotations) or a couple interesting swaps.

2

Minor: Units have multi-kit conversions including head and weapon swaps. This is for more than a few models such as a unit.

4

Major: The army has some difficult conversions that use things such as putty, plastic card, drilling, sawing, minor sculpts, etc. This could also apply to the entire army having very well done multi-kit conversions (see above)

6

Extreme: The army has some extreme conversions, which could be: a scratch built conversion or sculpt of an entire model, a large amount of models with difficult conversions (see above), or the entire army is extremely converted.

8

Advanced Skills : ONLY judge this section if 20 points were awarded on Initial Overall Impression (Circle the one that applies)

No advanced techniques.

The models have a basecoat with a shade and highlight color.

2

The models have been shaded using layering with highlights or blending (but the blending is not seamless)

4

The models have been shaded using seamless blending

6

Exceptional Extras: ONLY judge this section if 20 points were awarded on Initial Overall Impression. (Circle the one that applies) Points

No extras.

The army has rough freehand work, simple unit/army markings, and/or basic vehicle weathering.

2

The army has quality transfer work and clean unit/army markings and or vehicle weathering.

4

The army has stellar freehand detail work (banners, army/unit symbols, squad markings, etc.) and/or realistic vehicle weathering.

6

The Sportsmanship Award will be awarded based on Score Sheet and Player’s Choice votes. Judges may assign marks based on observations throughout the rounds. If a player gives out numerous negative marks, Tournament staff may ask for an explanation and make a ruling.
